Create a new canvas: FILE-->>NEW. Make sure your info is the same as mine.

Using the Paint Bucket, fill the canvas with a dark blue color like the one I'm using.

Create a new layer and name it Head. Pick a skin tone. Using the elliptical Marquee tool create an oval for links head(TIP: Hold down the spacebar while using the Marquee to move the selection around. Press Alt Delete to fill selection with foreground color)

Pick the Eracer tool, size 19. Click on one spot, hold shift and click again on a new spot. That will create an eracer mark on a straight line from point to point. What you are doing is carving Link's face, shaping it so it's not an oval.

Create a new layer and name it Hair. Pick the color yellow. Use the Polygonal Lasso tool (make sure feather is set at 0 px). Create Link's hair like the one I did. Press alt delete to fill it. Press control D to deselect the selection.

Create a new layer below the hair layer. Zoom in. Using the Polygonal Lasso tool make a selection for Link's hat. Pick a green similar to mine and press Press Alt Delete to fill.

Go back to the Head layer. Select the skin color with the eye dropper tool. Select the Polygonal Lasso tool and create ears for Link. Hold down shift to add or to create additional selections, that's how I create the two separate selections for Link's ear. Press Control D to deselect.

Create a new layer below the head layer and name it neck. Just as in the previous step, create a selection like mine and fill it with the skin color. You can use the Eyedropper tool to select that color from the Head Layer. This is Link's neck.

Create a new layer below the neck layer and name it Inner shirt. Create a selection like mine with the Polyonal Lasso tool and fill it with a similar green to mine. Press Alt delete to fill. Press Control D to deselect.

Create a new layer above the neck layer and name it shirt. Again like in the previous steps create a selection and fill it (the same color of Link's hat).
