More detailing.

As you can see, I detailed the band on her head, added some dark spots to her hair.

  1. For the band I used the doge/burn tool, paintbrush, and smudge tool.

Step 5. shaping it up

In this picture (below), miss Padmé is starting to look a lot more attractive. I've used the eraser to difine her forehead, nose and chin. You might have notice that her chin still has some sharp edges. That will be fixed with the straight line technique I talked about on page two (where it says 'TIP'). I also used the paintbrush (soft) with the opacity and flow set to around 25-45 to lightly smooth out her skin where they where once shaded or highlighted. For her hair I, ahh... remember the dark spots I added to her hair? Well, I took the smudge tool and smudged back and forth until it looked kinda like hair. Of course I changed the angle of the stroke according to the photo I was looking at.

Step 6. More detailing.

For the hair going down her face I use a brush with an opacity setting around 20-30 to give it transparency. I used the smudge tool for the little strands of hair above her forehead.

  1. Zoom in to add details.

Ignore the background image. I know I'm repeating myself again, but I did this painting on one layer so I worked the background in as I went along. For your painting you'll have the background on a different layer so it won't interfere with the main subject which means you can work on your backgound anytime during your painting. Just make sure when you work on the background that you are in the background layer.

    Step 7. reshading.

Here I reshaded her skin with the burn tool.
